No hoax?

Was working for oxfam at Glastonbury when the news came through, i don't think i need to say what news. All anyone had to say was 'no fucking way' or that it must be some kind of festival hoax but alas the king is dead. Despite the fact he was undoubtedly a freak and very possibly a paedophile i think the fact that you can go to any night in any city in the world and hear at least one of his songs pretty much equals he was the don. In related news ive heard he's getting preserved in the moonwalk pose? priceless, what a fucking legend.

all that remains is me to post the obligitory youtube video of my favouraite MJ song, this one happens to be mine as it reminds me of a certain drunken night in Estonia and its not an obvious one so i won't get slated by all the 'real' michael jackson fans, the video is amazing too. Im really not all that bothered about the political or humanitarian message behind it but its definately a good song to bop too. Does this make me a disgusting person, worsened by the fact i worked for oxfam? hmmmm.

big love

Glastonbury was amazing.

s'all i have to say, seriously on a par as the best thing i have ever been too. photos to follow when i get on my ridiculously sun burnt legs and get down to boots/jessops/ other £6 a film camera retailer.

Nae Reading?

Dinne be expecting anything of this blog for at least a week or two as I'm off to the knees up/music extravaganza that is Glastonbury 2009 for seven days, with 4 out of 6 residents from our sick as fuck house in tow. Via our dear friend Nat's in somerset, i really don't think she realises what she's let herself in for. I'm hoping that a Glastonbury/bestival/bmx worlds combination will make my 19th summer one to remember and make up for a lack of Reading festival this summer for the first time in two years.
that is all.

Sicker than a cancer tumor.

Is what this album is, have to admit I'm not usually on listening to loads of Jamaican guys rap about 'bumbaklarts' in a high pitched voice but this is amazing. Not too sure weather its the combination of his Sheffield,'get a brew on love' accent and the Jamaican guy screeching all the way through it or the fact its the kinda music i would relish dancing to in a club where i was the only white person, but its definitely some enjoyable listening.

Anyways I'm off to the smoke to ride bay 66/PlayStation/pseudo skateboard spot.

What a treat.

I love this painting, if i could paint this is exactly the kind of things i would paint along with Paolo Di Canio circa 1999 and Notorious B.I.G. Unfortunately I'm unbelievably wank at painting inside the lines so i guess ill have to apply my obvious artistic talents in some other field. Ride letter supremo Rhys Coren can paint though and paints the best things an early 90's childhood has to offer. Roland lives on.

Derby days

Had a pretty sick last few days, (I could probably make a joke here about 'sick' being literal but i spent far too much time in bed last night feeling sorry for myself for that to work.) all i can say is that I've decided to make a life long commitment to absconding from burger king as the last four times Ive eaten it I've felt disgusting or puked up afterwards, you'd think twice would be a lesson learned but hey I'm clearly a tad slow in the old learning department. Anyways i worked at Epsom derby on Saturday, t'was an experience to say the least. Being late as usual i had a choice of the shirt with no buttons or the shirt with some sinister stain down the side, not feeling my white pasty body could pull off the Colombian coke baron look i went for the shirt with elephant jizz down the side. Despite this i managed to blag £30 worth of tips off some cockney housewives simply for being 'lovely', the fact the tap had broken and i was making small talk didn't seem to matter to them. Anyways that evening we hit good ole reading for Layla's coming of age, despite not being allowed in most places for being too 'scruffy' (since when has a polo shirt and cardigan been scruffy?) a good night was had be all, some better than others needless to say Thomas was left behind enemy lines to fend for himself in deepest darkest reading but he seems to have met a lovely lady because of it. In other activities I went to Thorpe park ate burger king and have been ill ever since, saw was mega though.

My favouraite blog in the world

http://www.pukepartyblog.com/

never fails to make my laugh, they've got the right idea in my sordid little eyes.

Emmy is indeed great.

This has to be one of the most underrated albums of this year, its been on constant repeat for me and all of my housemates but a lot of people don't seem to have realised it exists. I know it came out pretty much off the radar but it fully deserves the hype it hasn't got. All i really have to say about it is that its 13 tracks of perfect rainy day music, which bearing in mind i spend my whole life in either the south east or south west of England is pretty useful. Also to cap the whole thing she is pretty danng attractive and despite never really having a thing for Asian girls before seeing her live i have to confess she ignited a new found passion/obsession within me. Now every asian girl i see has untapped potential, my perversions aside if you want any more evidence as to why you should buy/borrow/steal this album i saw her live http://robstafford.tumblr.com/page/7 and it was probably even better than this album.

The best memories.

Estonia 2009 from mike king on Vimeo.

I've probably posted about how good simpel session 2009 and Tallinn in general was a few to many times now, but i fell in love with the place and i think its safe to say if you read this blog then your gonna have to hear all about a few more times at least. Anyways i think this video mikey made captures the whole vibe pretty good, and its probably a testament to this video that everytime i hear 'bruises' by chairlift i think of mega parties, stunning girls and easyjet flights in the snow, have i sold Estonia yet?

anyways in case anyone has any interest heres what i wrote about it at the time http://robstafford.tumblr.com/page/7

"the sun is shining, the weather is sweet, make you wanna move your dancing feet?"

Had a pretty mint day, started with a nice chilled session down Basingstoke park and ended with a pint of thatchers at t'mill as the sun went down, i honestly don't think life could get a great deal better at the moment. Oh and i also saw the most bizarre thing going a tennis coach brought 2 kids down to do press ups, knee jumps and squat thrusts on top of the quarters at Basingstoke park,as well as getting them to jump up and down shouting "i hate bikers,i hate skaters". A chat with said coach allowed us to establish that this was all in the name of embarrassing the poor kids, so they wouldn't feel under pressure when they hit the big time.bizarre.

oh and I've managed to steal some photos of the weekends summer ball, t'was messy to say the least.

Mega weekend/reality check.

Had one of the best weekends i've had in a wee while, despite having to get up at 8:30 AM (not early for the working world i know but consider the fact I'm a student who considers morning lectures a myth) Friday was amazing after driving through t'uald west country with Tom and Gemma ended up at the worlds best spoons for a healthy lunch of strongbow, burgers and cigarettes. While I'm on the subject if you've never been to Exeter they have a spoons in a stately mansion its amazing, cheap drinks in pretty much a stately home, it makes me feel like a tramp who won the lottery/got the first pick of beds in the hostel.

Anyways this was followed by a trip to Exmouth beach where games of hacki/handball/nipple pinching ensued with some friends from Exeter uni, my personal highlight being the old man who near enough forced us to help him put his boat out to sea and bring it in again after a year of landlubbing, an old mans passion for the sea reignited and my good deed for the weekend done we continued to Plymouth the city of kings.

Saturday began with a swim in plymouth hoe (not as sordid as that sounds)in my badass john barnes esq swimming shorts, i can't lie it was freezing. The night however provided what we all went for our end of year ball/festival hosted at Plymouth uni. The bands were amazing the holloways and king blues were beyond sick, jaguar skills was as bad ass as i expected and all i have to say about the silent disco is that whoever came up with the concept has genius to match einstein or someone equally as clever like van gough or something? hmmm who knows.
Another highlight being free champagne/piss courtesy of the uni as well as free pairs of those glasses that everyone seems to wear, with no lenses like plastic strips i think kanye 'gay fish' west wears them a lot. All in all one bottle of sainsburys basic vodka and ten cigars later the night came to an amazing end.

On the other side of things i've now finished my first and easiest year of university which means i have only two more years of putting off getting a job. sheeeeet.

pictures to follow when i pilfer someones facebook.
